Opportunities
We’ve had an amazing few weeks for providing wider opportunities for the children in school. Y3-6 visiting the waterpark and this week, EYFS and KS1 enjoyed a session with Speedkix. A pair of great memory making days for the children, not to mention the personal development by taking part in different activities than our usual PE lessons.
Over the Rainbow
We also saw the culmination of months of hard work from our drama group with their performances of “Over the Rainbow”. I was personally blown away by every single member of the cast. All working together, communicating, enjoying each other’s company, striving for improvement. A massive, massive thanks to all the staff who have given hours of their own time to ensure this performance was as good as it was! A big thanks also to Hatton Performing Arts for their support with costumes.
You are able to watch a video of one of the performances here
Assessment News…
All children have recently completed their end of year assessments in reading, writing and maths. Children in year one and some in year two have completed their end of year phonics screening check and our Y4 children completed their mutliplication tables check. (Y6 also completed their sats in May)
Some news from these assessments are shown below as a summary. Your own child’s assessments will be included in their end of year report.
Early Years Good Level of Development – 72% (This is likely to be above the national average)
End of year one phonics screening check – 82% (This is likely to be above national average) (Improved 42% in 2 years)
End of year two phonics screening check – 95% (This is likely to be above national average)
Multiplication Tables Check – 41% of our children scored 25/25 with an average of 21.1 (both measures likely to be above national averages)
We have made incredible improvements in two years right across school. Our team’s resilience, determination, skill and togetherness has meant that data outcomes have risen across school in nearly every single measure and are now moving closer towards the averages that I expect for our school. I want our school to be above the national average in every measure and we will be with the support and encouragement of learning at home but also because of the team of talented staff we have in school. The above are only a snapshot of assessments in school. Once all assessments have been finalised, I will be happy to share more information with our community.
Obviously, outcomes in assessments are not all we teach for. Our team have worked diligently to provide expert learning in art, dt, pe and all other subjects.
Parent/Carer Survey June 2024
As is now an annual survey at this time of year, I ask for a few moments of your time to complete our survey. An important survey for school to see what we are getting right, what we can consider for further improvement in 2024-2025. Thanks for the time you are taking to complete this. Last year we received 144 responses so lets go for 150 this year!

Have a great weekend everyone and thanks for your continued support of Northstead Community Primary School.
