Hello Northstead Community and welcome to Headteacher news. A busy, busy, busy two weeks since we returned from half term holidays.
Colour Run
What a 1st ever colour run! An amazing community event that will live in the memory for a long time. An event that has helped raise a significant amount of money for Friends of Northstead.
https://www.facebook.com/FriendsOfNorthstead – You can follow their page on Facebook!
Remember – You can also tag school in photos on instagram for us to reshare! @northsteadprimary
You can also give us a follow to see the amazing things going on in our school.
Ofsted Monitoring Inspection
This took place on Thursday 6th June. Official paperwork from OFSTED has not yet been received. Until this is received, we are unable to share any further information. I can assure you that once this is received, I will share the report with our parents and carers.
Department for Education and RISE Programme
On Monday, we will welcome Nick Blackburn and members of the Department for Education to our school as part of the RISE programme. An opportunity for us to showcase our school to external people is always a positive opportunity. There will be no official report from this visit, however, I will share news with our community once I am able to.

Sports News..
Our Y6 boys teams competed in a local tournament and were unlucky to exit at the 1/4 final stage. Well done to both teams who represented our school.
Another well done to our Y6 cricket team who have made it through to the Yorkshire finals this coming week.
Teacher Allocation
This has been shared with all parents and carers via class dojo and via email.
Contact Details
A request to remember to keep your contact details up to date on our systems please. If we don’t have the correct information, we will be unable to contact you. This is important for many reasons, not least in case there is an emergency at school.
Attendance News
A strong start to half term with 94.5% average in week one, but lower in week two. This year, our overall average is 93.75%. We really need this to get to 94% overall (as a minimum) and so we need all children in school every day. In week one, attendance dropped from 95% Monday to Thursday to just above 90% on Friday. Friday’s learning and opportunities are just as important as every other day.
A reminder that every child has a target of 95% for attendance and that any attendance below 90% is classed as persistent absence from school.
As a school and therefore as a community – we are judged on our attendance levels by external bodies.
Cancelled Sports Days
Our rescheduled sports days were shared on class dojo. Please ensure you have read the information so you know when to come and cheer your child(ren) on.
Wykeham Lakes and Speedkix
We are very much looking forward to our Wykeham Lakes (KS2) and Speedkix (EYFS/KS1) days in a week’s time. An amazing opportunity for our children (and staff) to take part in the opportunities we are able to provide them. Watch out for the photos!
Science Week
Next week, sees every class contribute to our new Science Garden. (Behind the library). This has been cleared and is ready for bird feeders, plants, vegetables and a wildflower garden to be planted. We will also be joined my Mick Couzens. Mick is a local celebrity (in our eyes) who works across the town picking litter up wherever he goes and spreading the message of taking responsibility (one of our CORE values) for your own litter. We look forward to welcoming Mick back to school to work with our Y1 children on sorting out the litter in the local area.
Parent and Carer Survey 2024-2025
This has now been closed as we have received a great response from our community. Feedback is appreciated and will help to form improvements in school linked to the experience and thoughts of parents. This information is also shared with our Governing Body as part of the end of academic year Headteacher’s Report.
